Timeline & Pre-Filing Steps
1st Decide to file Bankruptcy
2nd Contact an attorney and set up a meeting to discuss Chapter 7 vs.
Chapter 13 filing.
3rd Client makes the decision to file bankruptcy
4th Fees agreement is signed
5th Fee and costs are paid
6th Client completes online questionnaire
7th Attorney reviews questionnaire and requests client make changes
8th Client makes changes
9th Attorney reviews any changes made
10th If no further revisions, attorney drafts petition and schedules
11th Client provides documentation for trustee
12th Client completes first counseling session
***This must be completed before filing at www.springboard.org***
13th Client signs documents
14th Attorney files bankruptcy petition
Bankruptcy Fees
Chapter 7:
$ 299.00 Filing Fee
$ 2500.00 Attorney's Fee: Must be paid in full before petition can be filed
Chapter 13:
$ 274.00 Filing Fee: Can be paid in 4 installments, with permission of court
$ 3000.00 Attorney's Fee: Must be paid in full before petition can be filed
